Engineering
Redmond Gary employs a team of tertiary qualified engineers. The engineers are mechanical engineers, electrical engineers and electronic engineers. We also employ one registered engineer and sign off on designs in accordance with the requirements of workplace health and safety. Our engineering department is responsible for the design and upgrades of the equipment manufactured by Redmond Gary Australia. All designs are completed in accordance with Australian and International Standards.
Engineering department
The engineering department is responsible for designs and testing in the following disciplines:
• Mechanical design
• Electrical and electronic design
• Hydraulic system design
• High voltage insulation design
• Control systems
• Composites design
All drawings are completed using Solid Edge 3D drawings and Autocad 2D drawings. In addition, the engineering department utilises a number of advance software packages to carry out finer finite element analysis to make sure designs are fully compliant with the relevant standards.
The engineering department also produces reports on completed designs and carries out non-destructive and destructive testing of new components so they are not completely relying on engineering calculations and finer finite element analysis. In recent years the engineering department has been heavily involved in composite design. These are non-metallic materials that are manufactured in-house and are subject to the most stringent testing. Our engineers are heavily involved with local universities who are called upon to verify and supervise testing of new components. This gives a level of credibility to the level of equipment that is expected by our customers.
Engineers not only design new equipment and specified bought in components, they produce comprehensive drawing sets down to individual components for the workshop to manufacture. Drawings also include technical descriptions and assembly procedures for equipment being manufactured. In addition, the engineering department supplies periodic reports on assembly and maintenance procedures. They are also responsible for investigating any problems or incidents that may occur with any service equipment.
Engineering certifications
Redmond Gary Australia is also represented on the Australian Standards Committee for AS1418.10 and has been for a number of years. We contribute to this standard which also has flow on affects to ISO International Standards. Redmond Gary Australia is at the forefront of equipment development and compliance with Australian Standards.
The engineering office is certified to ISO9001 and completes all tasks in compliance to this standard.
