Workplace Health & Safety Queensland – Injury Prevention Management Program (November, 2016)

Redmond Gary Australia is working in conjunction with Workplace Health & Safety Queensland completing the Injury Prevention Management Program. This program has far reaching affects throughout the whole workshop. The program is run for a period of 24 months. Redmond Gary Australia has been assisted by Richard Taylor and the goals of the program are as follows:

  • Improved WHS systems and processes
  • Improved rehabilitation and return to work systems and processes
  • Reduced workplace injuries
  • Increased worker participation and accountability in WH&S

Today, Richard organised a presentation by Gavan McGuane. Gavan often speaks on behalf of Workplace Health & Safety with an aim to make workers aware of the risks associated workplace behaviours. In 1994 Gavan was blinded by acid in a workplace accident. At the time he was a manager in charge and had written a detailed procedure. Due to complacency in the workplace he didn’t follow his own procedure and suffered irreparable damage to his eyesight and now only has 15% eyesight in one eye. He highlighted how his accident not only affected his own lifestyle but also had a dramatic affect on his family and friends. We thank Gavan for his presentation which has made us all the more aware of the importance of workplace safety.
