A 10 Tonne Cable Drum Trailer has been delivered to WDS for installation of high voltage cables and fibre optic cables. WDS is working on a new coal seam gas project located west of Miles in Queensland. The project is to develop a suitable coal seam gas field for Origin Energy. There are approx. 170 wells on the site they are working on and the cable installation is expected to take approx. seven years to complete. The trailer is hauled by a Caterpillar Challenger tractor and is specially designed with feeder system to deposit cable from the drum into the trench. The cable can be dropped in at a speed of 5km/hour and the trailer has performed very well with productivity rates greater than expectations.
