AGMA Machine in factory (November, 2010)

Redmond Gary Australia has installed a new vertical machining centre in their workshop. This machine is supplied with 4th Axis rotary table and magnetic table for quick setup of workpieces. The machine was supplied by sister company RG Machine Tools and was installed and commissioned recently. The machine is provided with 50 ISO Taper and is of very heavy duty construction. The machine will enhance Redmond Gary Australia’s manufacturing capabilities and with advanced software, will give considerable gains in productivity being able to process workpieces that couldn’t be done previously on production equipment in the factory.

The machine is an AGMA VMC-137G with table movements of X=1300mm Y=700mm and Z=800mm with table loading capacity of up to 1400kg and powerful 22kW gear-driven spindle. The machine also includes 70 Bar through spindle coolant and high end Fanuc control 18iMB. The control also features full blown version of Manual Guide i with 3D real time process simulation. A great deal of additional software was ordered for the machine to enhance its 4 Axis capability. Gary Danks, one of the Directors of Redmond Gary Australia received specialised training by Fanuc USA for Manual Guide i control making Gary one of the few people in Australia to have completed genuine Fanuc training for this type of system. We also purchased Fanuc simulation software which will be invaluable for training our staff off line.
